Concept of open spaces – Schoettermarial neighbourhood

The open space typology for the Schoettermarial neighbourhood in Kirchberg is structuring the area into an urban, intensively used core zone along the beltway and extensively used zones close to nature towards the periphery of the valuable slope forests.

Within the design programme, the structuring of the open spaces allows for a visible separation into public, semi-public and private spaces.

Sustainably managed rainwater is flowing close to the surface into retention terraces and can evaporate or seep into the ground. Existing rare biotope areas are protected and maintained. The landscape keeps open spaces to recover formerly used surfaces.
