Concept of open spacesEntry area of the graveyard of Bertrange
The principal entry of the cemetery is marked by an environment similar to that of a park. Particular types of park trees form a spaced grove and integrate the two trees already present. The minimalist character of open space in front of the new reception room underlines the effect of the large frontal clay wall.
The linear structure of fine stone chippings surfaces and plant strings resumes the serial structure of the cemetery and prepares the visitor in the reception room. The short-sized plant strings made up of perennials, ornamental grasses and evergreen box trees continue seasonally in spring with bulb stripes to the neighbouring park meadow and combine the old with the renewed.
