PLAYING AND LEARNING LANDSCAPES

From asphalt to playground, Lintgen

Construction time: 2006 – 2009
Place: Lintgen, Luxembourg
Surface: 3000 m²
Developer: Municipality of Lintgen

For many years, Lintgen’s playground was nothing but a mass of concrete. The playground has now been redesigned with new priorities in mind. The number of sealed areas has been reduced and they have been turned into natural areas for children to play. A dynamic swinging bench greets people on their way in and provides plenty of space for people to sit down. Right at the entrance, a wooden stage serves as an attractive platform for performances, where spectators can gather round in a semi-circle. The height difference around the playground’s edges is now used as an area for intensive play. Under the protection of the trees’ canopy, children are given numerous opportunities to slide around, test their balance and climb.
